Leaf spring manufacturers are collaborating with university materials science departments and research laboratories to build an integrated R&D platform that combines industry, academia, and research. Focusing on three main R&D directions—material innovation, structural optimization, and process upgrading—they are tackling numerous industry technical challenges and accelerating the commercialization of cutting-edge research results. The two parties are jointly developing core technologies such as ultra-high strength spring steel smelting, composite material molding, intelligent leaf spring sensor integration, and novel anti-corrosion coatings. Leveraging the theoretical research advantages of universities and the practical production advantages of enterprises, they are addressing the shortcomings of single-entity R&D. Addressing common industry pain points such as short fatigue life, easy deformation under heavy loads, and susceptibility to corrosion damage in leaf springs, the R&D team optimized alloy ratios and improved shot peening strengthening processes, developing long-lasting, corrosion-resistant, and high-fatigue leaf spring products that significantly extend product lifespan. Simultaneously, they are exploring low-cost composite material molding solutions to reduce the production cost of lightweight leaf springs, breaking down the barriers to the promotion of high-end lightweight products. Furthermore, the R&D platform is specifically training personnel in materials R&D, process optimization, and intelligent production and maintenance, building a reserve of multi-skilled technical talent for the industry. The industry-academia-research integration model connects the three major links of scientific research, talent, and production, continuously providing the leaf spring industry with new technologies, new products, and new talents, and activating the endogenous driving force for industrial innovation.
