With the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, lightweighting has become a core development direction. Lightweight leaf springs, with their multiple performance advantages, are gradually replacing traditional heavy-duty leaf springs, becoming a core upgrade component for suspension systems and empowering the development of the new energy commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle industries. Traditional multi-leaf leaf springs are bulky and heavy, increasing vehicle energy consumption and limiting cargo capacity and range, making them unsuitable for the development needs of new energy vehicles. Industry R&D teams have focused on two main areas: multi-leaf variable cross-section leaf springs and composite material leaf springs. They have optimized the internal structure of their products and innovated raw materials, achieving significant weight reduction while maintaining load-bearing capacity. Compared to traditional leaf springs, the new lightweight leaf springs can reduce overall weight by about 30%, effectively reducing unsprung mass and energy loss during driving. For new energy vehicles, lightweighting directly improves the overall driving range and optimizes chassis vibration damping, alleviating chassis stress caused by battery weight. For fuel-powered commercial vehicles, it reduces fuel consumption and emissions, helping transportation companies reduce operating costs. At present, lightweight leaf spring technology is becoming increasingly mature and is gradually achieving large-scale mass production and popularization. It has become a key supporting component for automakers to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction, optimize driving experience and enhance market competitiveness, thus driving the automotive suspension industry into a new stage of lightweight development.
